HUNAGI joined the Flickr image sharing community on 25 May 2005 and is member of the Google + Flickr = Geoblogger group since 11 December 2005. HUNAGI photo collection will be part of the Geoblogger georeferenced visualisation. Meantime HUNAGI upgraded its membership to Flickr Pro and now the systematic upload activities are carried out on continuous basis.

Editor's Note

A hazai térinformatikai kultúra terjedését leginkább befolyásoló tényezők a felhasználói igények mellett egyrészről a magyar és az EU vonatkozó jogszabályok (így a földmérési és térképészeti tevékenységről szóló hazai törvény, továbbá a tervezett INSPIRE, valamint a PSI, EWF és egyéb irányelvek), másrészről ezek mentén a versenyképességet elősegítő nemzeti téradat infrastruktúra (NSDI) mielőbbi kiépítése. Az interoperabilitás és a diszciplínák, valamint az ágazatok közötti horizontális, továbbá a nemzetközi együttműködés feltétele az európai programokban ( GMES, FP6/FP7) való sikeres részvételnek, a következő évtized mobil és helyfüggő alkalmazásait megsokszorozó GALILEO programra való felkészülésnek. Ezen feladatok végrehajtásának többek között az ITKTB NTIS, ITOP és a NFT-2 jelöl ki és ad lehetséges kereteket, támaszkodva az EU-s forrásokra. Naprakész információ szolgáltatásunk (honlap, hírlevelek) a fogadókészség folyamatos erősítésére törekszik kihasználva a HUNAGI külföldi és hazai szinten egyaránt elismert konzulens partneri szerepét és széles kapcsolatrendszerét, különösen az európai intézményekkel, továbbá az EUROGI, Eurogeographics, GSDI és - hazánk csatlakozását követően - a GEO szervezetekkel való munkakapcsolatban. Meggyőződésünk, hogy a magyar eredmények világszinten, a FIG, ISPRS, GSDI, ISDE, ICA de az ENSZ fórumain is hozzájulhatnak az EU lisszaboni céljainak eléréséhez. Küldetésének megfelelően a honi eredmények nemzetközi láttatásánk egyik eszköze maga a HUNAGI is, amely a térinformatika alap- és tematikus adatainak előállításában, értéknövelésében, alkalmazásában, fejlesztésében és oktatásában érdekelt vagy érintett szervezetek egyre szélesebb közössége. A sikeres működés alapja tagintézményeink folyamatos és aktív közreműködése, az állami felelős szervezetekkel való hatékony együttműködés. Mindez a HUNAGI térinformatikai közösséget, végső soron a gazdaság versenyképessége és az állampolgárok hasznát is szolgálja.

FAO TCP Pilot with integrated rural development, water management and land consolidation elements starts in interministerial collaboration. Hungary's priority needs within JRC areas of competence were discussed on March 10, 2006 The Round Table devoted to promoting collaboration between DG JRC and Hungarian organisations in Science and Technology areas was hosted by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest. In the interactive session the following HUNAGI member institutions held presentations: Hungarian Meteorological Service, University of West Hungary, Hungarian Geological Survey, Institute of Geodesy, Cartography and Remote Sensing as well as the Budapest University of Technology and Economics. Moreover, the Central Service of the Plant Protection and Soil Conservation was also actively involved. The importance of land parcel-related information in SDI was pointed out and the awareness raising on INSPIRE involving civil organisation mentioned. HUNAGI as organisation was also invited by the Hungarian host organiser, the National Office of Research and Technology.

President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Prof.Sz.Vizi.E emphesized the lack of bridge between science and economy in Europe. Referring to the issue employment pointed out by Ms.Maria Joao Rodriguez of the European Commission, HUNAGI SG addressed the geoinformation technologies as potential drivers for creating new jobs. SG of HUNAGI, Secretary of GSDI has been invited as member of the Editorial Board for the GSDI-9 conference on March 1, 2006. The conference will be held in Santiago Chile, November 6-10, 2006, where a refereed full-paper conference volume in addition to the normal conference proceedings will be published.

The Joint Working Group on Cadastral identifiers of EuroGeographics and the Permanent Committee on Cadastre held its Meeting in the INSPIRE context on 22-23 February, 2006 in Vienna. The meeting was hosted by BEV, The National Mapping and Cadastre Agency of Austria. Hungary is involved and joined to the European Survey on Digital Cadastre recently. More on PCC: here









Joao Geirinhas, Secretary General of EUROGI paid a half day visit in Budapest. He met SG of HUNAGI, DG of the National Mapping Agency DLAG MoARD and visited the Remote Sensing Center, the GIS lab devoted to Topo Database and the Map and Orthophoto Archive. Inauguration Meeting of the Interministerial Editorial Board of the Thematic Portal on Information Society.
Under the auspices of the Strategic Planning Subcommittee of the Information Society Committee chaired by Dr.Kálmán Nagy of MoIC,and moderated by Mr.Tamás Kolossa,Director of the Coordination Office on Information Society, the Editorial Board of the IS Thematic Portal Hungary was set up on 9th February 2006. International Space station: a Unique REsearch opportunity (SURE)
An Information Day hosted by the Hungarian Space Research Office, Member of HUNAGI
The Information Day scheduled for 14th February in Budapest is around the Announcement of Opportunity of the European Space Agency for Scientists and SMEs to use the International Space Station funded by the European Commission under the Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) . The SURE AO is opened to Scientists and SMEs from EU Member States and Associated States, with priority given to new EU Member States. Representing its member community HUNAGI has been registered. The Geneva Headquarters of the United Nations hosted the Meeting of the UNECE WPLA Bureau chaired by Peter Creuzer Director of the Lower Saxony Surveying Office on 4th of February, 2006. ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) Hungary established











About 30 invited potential founder organisations including some GIS companies (Geometria, Topolisz, 7pont) and HUNAGI participated the inaugural meeting hosted by the Ministry of Economics and Transportation in Budapest, on 24th January 2006.
The aim was to establish ITS Hungary. The new organisation will be the Hungarian member of the Network of National ITS Associations coordinated by the Intelligent Transport Systems and Services Europe (ERTICO). The application procedure for court registration will start in early February. President and Secretary General elected are Mr.Lajos Szűcs of MoE&T and Prof.Dr. Ágnes Lindenbach of Budapest University of Technology and Economics. By formal recommendation of HUNAGI representative, Prof.Dr. Ákos Detrekői has been elected as one of the Honorary Presidents. More details will follow soon

Hungarian success in the Annual Small Grants Program of the Global Spatial Data Infrastructure Association! For the call relayed by HUNAGI, the grantee "Botany Portal" of MTA ÖBKI (the Institute for Ecology & Botany) was awarded by and received a grant of $2,500 in funding from GSDI supplemented with voluntary services from the GIS Corps

Tagintézményünk, az MTA ÖBKI a Botanikai portál pályaművével az első helyen végzett és a három kiemelt díj egyikét nyerte el a GSDI térinformatikai világszervezet éves projekttámogató pályázatán, amelyen 71 beérkezett projektjavaslatból a nemzetközi bíráló bizottság 15-öt részesített támogatásban, egyetlen egyet az EU tagországokból. Gratulálunk Horváth Ferencnek és csapatának, melyet a megvalósításban a GISCorps szervezet is támogatni fog. A GSDI olyan szervezetek munkáját támogatja, amelyek saját nemzeti vagy regionális téradat infrastruktúrájukat fejleszti együttműködve helyi, nemzeti és nemzetközi szervezetekkel annak lehetővé tétele érdekében, hogy a térinformatikai adatok, szolgáltatások, metaadatok hozzáférhetővé váljanak egymással interoperábilis szabványalapú szolgáltatások, rendszerek és szoftverek felhasználásával a világhálós környezetben. GSDI Board of Directors appointed HUNAGI representative Gabor Remetey-Fülöpp as liasion to CEOS WGISS on 17th January 2006. The first formal communication in this subject with Ivan Petiteville, Chair of WGISS at ESA ESRIN in Frascati was successfully prepared by Allan Doyle, Director of GSDI on the same day. Ezen szóba került, hogy az ENSZ tuniszi WSIS információs társadalom csúcstalálkozóján a szervezetet az elnök, Harlan Onsrud professzor képviselte, ahol egy 45 perces előadást tartott a térbeli adatok és technológiák értéke az információs társadalom számára címmel itt, majd az ICSU CODATA szervezet szekcióülésén "Globális térbeli adatok" címmel itt adott elő. A párhuzamos szekciók igen alacsony látogatottsággal folytak, mível azokkal egyidőben tartották a plenáris ülést, amelyen 14000 küldött vett részt. A földügy és a térinformatika ezer szálon kapcsolódik. Ez igaz a kataszterre is, különösen, amióta John McLaughlin (New Brunswick Egyetem) és Fritz Petersohn (Atlantic Institute) hozzájárulásával a sokcélú kataszter beépült a térbeli adatok infrastruktúrája kezdeményezésbe (1996). The Geodetic Sciences Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences has been admitted as the EuroSDR member representing Hungary. The Portugese Geographical Institut (IGEO) provided venue for the interviews with the candidates from Portugal and Hungary related their applications for the position of the Secretary General of EUROGI. The hearing took place on 30th May. The interview was lead by EUROGI president Mr. Jean Poulit assisted by Vice President Prof.Mauro Salvemini and EUROGI ExCom member Mr. John Leonard. Five days later, recommended by Jarmo Ratia of the National Land Survey of Finland, seconded by Chukwudozie Ezigbalike of UNECA CODI-GEO, Gabor Remetey of Hungary was elected unanimously as Secretary of the Global Spatial Data Association by the BoD meeting chaired by GSDI President Prof.Dr. Harlan Onsrud (Univ.of Maine). The subject of the FAO project is related to Land management in integrated rural development in area endangered by floods and inlog waters. At the hearing in the Geodetic Science Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Science chaired by Dr. József Závoti, Dr. László Alabér of TopoMap Non-profit Co.delivered a presentation on the INSPIRE and the SDI Strategy. The topic was introduced by the Secretary General of HUNAGI, Chair of the Task Force on SDIS. After in-depth discussions, the Committee approved unanimously the recommended resolutions. A very relevant announcement was made at the Committee meeting by Mr. Dénes Szendrő, Head the Department of Geoinformation of the Dept. of Land Administration and Geoinformation of MoARD saying, he was recently appointed representing the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development in intergovernmental informatics issues in the relations of the Prime Minister's Office and the Ministry of Informatics and Communication. The GS Committee meeting ( also having the introduction of EuroSDR in the agenda) was hosted by Dr. Árpád Barsi, Head of the Department of Photogrammetry and Geoinformatics at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics on February 17. The meeting was a success. The resolution document and the Committee's recommendation for the use of a more adequate Hungarian translation of "spatial data" will be available after the official announcement.

Galileo Conference held in Budapest on 12th January 2005 hosted by the Ministry of Informatics and Communication
A Magyar Űrkutatási Iroda és az iNavSat konzorcium, a Galileo műholdas navigációs rendszer egyik fővállalkozója, konferenciát rendezett 2005. január 12-én az Informatikai és Hírközlési Minisztériumban. A konferencia célja az volt, hogy ismertesse a műholdas navigáció iránt érdeklődő magyar vállalkozókkal, milyen lehetőségek adódnak bekapcsolódásukra a nagyszabású tervbe. A találkozót a kormányzati képviselőkkel folytatott megbeszélés előzte meg

Dr. Detrekői Ákos úr a Nemzeti Hírközlési és Informatikai Tanács elnökévé való kinevezése miatt megválik a HUNGIS Alapítványban betöltött tisztségétől. A HUNGIS Kuratórium új elnöke Havass Miklós úr, a HUNAGI volt elnöke lett. Prof.Dr.Ákos Detrekői has been appointed as Chair of the National Council of Communication and Informatics. Mr. Miklós Havass has been elected as new Chair of the Board of Curators in the HUNGIS Foundation.
Last week, Mr.Allan Doyle has been elected as Business Director of the GSDI Association.The next international GSDI conference "From Pharaohs to Geoinformatics: The Role of Spatial Data and Spatial Data Infrastructures in an Information Society" is being held in Cairo, Egypt in affiliation with the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) from April 16-21, 2005. Twice as many abstracts were submitted as were expected by either GSDI or FIG. To register and obtain detailed venue,travel and hotel information about this joint GSDI and FIG conference,see http://www.fig.net/cairo
